Fresh Start new beginnings invites potential volunteers to find out more at coffee morning

4th March 2019

On Wednesday 13th March from 10.30am, at the Holiday Inn, Ipswich Road, Norwich

A charity working with children and young people up to the age of 21 across Norfolk and Suffolk is calling for potential volunteers to join them at a coffee morning, where they can learn more about the types of support needed.

The event will be held on Wednesday 13th March from 10.30am, at the Holiday Inn on Ipswich Road in Norwich.

Fresh Start new beginnings provides therapeutic services to those who have disclosed sexual abuse, working to take away the blame, shame and feelings of guilt. It also offers support for families.

Volunteers are needed in Norfolk to help the charity to raise funds and awareness, and can pledge their support for as little as an hour a month. Typical roles carried out by volunteers including helping at events such as marshalling or manning a stand; hosting events; giving talks to local community groups and employers; plus making refreshments and supplying cakes.

Patsy Johnson-Cisse, Fundraising Manager at Fresh Start new beginnings, explained: “We are a small charity but dedicated to helping the children and young people who have reported being sexually abused. We work with around 200 children across two counties and have a waiting list for our services. Our volunteers play a vital role in helping us to raise the awareness and additional funds we need to reach more children in need.”

Chris, a volunteer for the charity, commented: “After I retired I wanted to use my new-found spare time to help others. After hearing about the work carried out by Fresh Start new beginnings I knew I wanted to help in whatever way I could. By volunteering at events I have also met new friends and attended events I would not ordinarily have gone to, whilst doing something worthwhile for this small, vital charity.

The more I learn about the work they do with childhood survivors of sexual abuse the more I want to do my part to help out.”
