Enjoy a Stellar performance at Ipswich concert!

4th September 2017

An enthusiastic group of singers has joined together under the leadership of Gaynor Schofield to learn and enjoy performing music a cappella – singing without accompaniment.

Gaynor found enthusiasm among members of local choirs, who wanted the challenge of unaccompanied singing, so in March 2017 she created and leads the Stellar Acappella ladies’ chorus, which is based in Ipswich.  Gaynor, who directs a multi-award winning a cappella group in Kent, has been directing a cappella choirs since1991.

“Stellar Acappella sings popular standards from the much-loved Amazing Grace, to songs made popular by Andy Williams, Freddie Mercury and Alicia Keys”, Gaynor said.  “All are unaccompanied and all in 4-6-part harmony and all-female voices. We’re still new and growing our repertoire, week on week. We also devote time in rehearsal to helping singers improve their voices and extend their performance skills”.

Following the success of last year’s In Harmony concert, local choir leader Helen Wheatley is planning another concert this year to support a well-known local charity and Stellar Acappella will be taking part.

The concert is on 7 October at the Museum Street Methodist Church in Ipswich.  It starts at 7.00pm and tickets cost just £10 and are available now from

Fresh Start – New Beginnings (FSNB) was set up in October 2012 so that they could help child victims of sexual abuse and offer support to their families.  October’s concert will showcase local singers as well as raising money, which will enable FSNB to continue their vital work.

As well as award-winning barbershop group Portobello Road and the well-known London Belles, the concert will feature singers from other local choirs including the Endeavour Singers.
